The small desk designed by Gianfranco Frattini for Bernini dates back to 1957. Originally called Model 530, the furniture piece was renamed “Nòs” - which means walnut in the Milanese dialect - on the occasion of its re-edition by Ceccotti Collezioni sixty-five years after its first production. With an essential style and rigorous lines, it was initially distributed mainly in walnut wood (natural or stained), with the base having a characteristic hourglass shape and embellished with a frame that emphasizes its profile. Available in three different versions, the Nòs small desk underlines Frattini's holistic vision in thinking of spaces and furnishings as a historical continuum: the project becomes all-encompassing and nothing can be random.
The standard version of the small desk has a smooth worktop, under which there are two lockable drawers, one on each side, each equipped with a key with a wooden handle. There are also three compartments, one on the front and two on the back. The roll top version, on the other hand, reinterprets and combines the small desk and the secretary, an elegant and decorative model created in the eighteenth century to satisfy female tastes. The cabinet, compared to the previous one, adds a shelf with two roll top closures on the top, a recurring element in Frattini's design. Finally, in the third version the drawer base is “replicated” to also be housed on the top, where it can function as a practical object or document holder.
From the passion for the care and workmanship of wood that connects Gianfranco Frattini and Franco Ceccotti - further emphasized, in fact, by the presence of a copy of the Milanese architect's small desk at the home of the founder of the Cascina company - the idea was born to present this historic piece of furniture for interiors, in full continuity with the original project. In its three editions - all in American walnut and available in the four colours in the catalogue: natural, moka, brown and dark - you can feel the care and craftsmanship that goes into the production of the furniture, giving it an authentically classic and always current look. The small desk, a place of memory but also historically a guardian and witness to the knowledge of humanity, becomes a piece of furniture with essential but refined lines, capable of adapting harmoniously to spaces thanks to its perfect balance between elegant details and the sobriety of the structure.
The reissue is part of the new line Masters Tribute that involves the rediscovery of iconic designs, which are re-proposed through the craftsmanship and design expertise of the Tuscan company. At the centre is the passion for wood and the love for materials worked with care and attention to detail.
