Bean: iconic and elegant.
Designed by Roberto Lazzeroni in 1990, this desk takes its name from its original shape, reminiscent of a bean.
Refined in both aesthetic and technical details, it embodies the excellence of Made in Italy and of Ceccotti Collezioni, blending the designer’s vision, the sophistication of materials, artisanal craftsmanship, and industrial precision.
The Bean desk is crafted from solid American walnut and is composed of 346 parts, glued together without screws by the skilled hands of our artisans over the course of more than two weeks. It then requires twelve hours for finishing and eight for staining.
Each phase of production respects traditional woodworking techniques and pays meticulous attention to detail, following a process that surpasses the logic of mass production. Even today, precision checks are performed visually and manually—for example, by sliding sheets of paper with millimetric thickness between drawers to verify their exact alignment.
The large desktop, which opens up, features a leather writing pad, an internally divided compartment, and is made from 1 mm-thick poplar plywood veneer—a distinctive element that enhances the piece’s value and durability, considering that veneers are conventionally 0.5–0.6 mm thick. The desk also includes a built-in storage compartment and nickel satin-finished brass pen holders positioned on the sides. Completing the set are eight lateral drawers, four on each side, with the top drawer fitted with maple dividers.
Bean is available in two sizes and can be customized with a kit that includes maple wood drawers and dividers, leather drawer bottoms, details with brushed brass finish, and a personalized nameplate.
Pairing it with the Marlowe chair makes a classy combination.
